Hi
Everyone! This is
our first 2008 newsletter. As you will soon
notice, it is fairly basic – race results, racer and member
news, and other relevant (and hopefully interesting) news for
members of SWDBA.
The intent is for this to be a monthly publication,
during race season, and to keep members informed what’s going
on with SWDBA.

Dr.
Jim Slaman
I would like to extend
a special thank you to the previous SWDBA Officers: Ray Vickers, Phil
Wylie, Richard Peters, and Susan Conely, for their help in
bringing the new officers up to speed. With their help and
the help of many volunteers, we were able to get our first
race of the season in.
I look forward to our next race in June and hope to
have a good turnout of boats. I encourage everyone
to pre-register so I know how much BBQ to make for lunch after
qualifying.
Again, thanks to everyone that helped in May. See you at the races
in June.

Race Results
Saturday morning
qualifications were delayed due to windy conditions but the
racers were relentless and hung around until late morning when
the wind died down.
Although there was a fairly low racer turnout
(apparently the other racers choose to spend Mother’s Day with
their Mother rather than racing, imagine that), there was a
large on-looker turnout, both Saturday and
Sunday.
After qualifications,
Jim smoked several pork loins, and provided lunch for racers,
their families, and the staff who helped make the first race
of the season a big success.
Here
are the official results of the May
race:
90
- 100 mph
1st Ed
Duvall, Orange
Crush
2nd Craig

3rd Willy

Did you notice a new
racer? A familiar
boat, Snakebite, has a new driver – SWDBA is pleased to
welcome Cheyenne White to our
membership.
SWDBA sponsored a
Declared Speed contest at the May race: Terri Lucas won with a
1.1 mph difference and received her $75 race entry fee
back.
Special

Dr. Jim Slaman DDS is
sponsoring a $200 cash prize to the winner (or split between
